Summary of Position:
The Certified Shallow Water Lifeguard at New England Village's Sollar Wellness Center performs various lifeguard duties including pool safety, participant support, mechanical and administrative support. Sollar Wellness Center (SWC): New England Village's SWC was uniquely designed to host a variety of health, wellness, and community programs. It includes a 30-by-50-foot swimming pool for therapy based or aqua-fitness classes. The SWC is committed to giving people of all abilities and backgrounds access to our facilities, programs, and services.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Responsible for safety of participants in water and on pool deck Provide ongoing water safety education to swimmers and staff Administer minor first aid as needed Maintain a safe swimming environment Adhere to policies and procedures as set forth in the SWC Pool Manual Adhere to and promote the mission and policies of New England Village Perform other similar duties as responsibilities necessitate or as requested by supervisor The description above represents the most significant duties of this position but does not exclude other occasional work assignments not mentioned, the inclusion of which would be in conformity with the factor degrees assigned. Reporting Relationship Reports to designated supervisor. Knowledge and Experience Required HS Diploma (or equivalent) Skills and Abilities Required Shallow Water Lifeguard Certification Certification in First Aid, CPR and QBS Safety-Care (training provided by NEV) Reliable, energetic, and positive attitude a must Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully to individuals served and others Experience working with adults with disabilities, seniors or special populations preferred
