JOB GOAL
To ensure the safety and well-being of all students in and around the pool area by maintaining a secure, professional, and enjoyable aquatic environment.
About Boston Higashi School:
Boston Higashi School is an internationally recognized institution dedicated to empowering students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Our programs emphasize holistic development, including physical fitness and recreation. As a Lifeguard, you will play a critical role in ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for our students to enjoy aquatic activities.
Performance Responsibilities:
Safety & Surveillance Monitor the safety of all students in and around the pool area. Perform student surveillance from the guard stand with a rescue tube, remaining alert at all times. Handle incidents appropriately based on your training and certifications. Pool Operations & Maintenance Open and close the pool daily based on scheduled hours. Communicate and enforce all pool rules in a personable and professional manner. Regularly test water chemistry at designated times (9:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 3:00 PM, 6:00 PM), record results, and report any imbalances to the Pool Director and/or supervisor. Emergency Preparedness Ensure all emergency equipment (e.g., backboard, first aid kit, rescue rings) is on the pool deck before classes begin and return it to the office at the end of the day. Communicate any potentially hazardous conditions or facility concerns to the Pool Director and/or supervisor promptly. Team Collaboration Work collaboratively with other lifeguards to maintain a safe and efficient pool environment. Assist with additional duties as assigned by supervisors or the Pool Director.
Qualifications:
Required Certifications:
Current Lifeguard Certification. Current CPR/First Aid/AED Certification.
Additional Requirements:
Availability for up to 32 hours per week during the summer season. Strong communication skills and ability to enforce rules professionally. Why Join Boston Higashi School?
