Child Watch Attendants Pay Rate $16.50 per hour The YMCA Bethesda-Chevy Chase is seeking caring, dependable, and energetic Part-Time and Full-Time Child Watch Attendants to provide a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for children while their parents or guardians use YMCA facilities. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children and are committed to providing excellent care and customer service. Essential Responsibilities Ensure the safety, well-being, and supervision of all children in the Child Watch program. Open and close the Child Watch room as scheduled. Maintain awareness of the location of the first aid kit and OSHA-required safety equipment. Keep all required certifications current. Respond appropriately to accidents and emergencies, following YMCA emergency procedures. Complete accident reports accurately and promptly when needed. Enforce all Child Watch safety rules and regulations. Report unsafe conditions or maintenance concerns to the supervisor immediately. Clean and sanitize toys and equipment daily. Change crib sheets daily. Change diapers as needed while following proper hygiene procedures. Ensure parents or guardians sign children in and out . Engage with children through age-appropriate play, activities, and positive interaction throughout their stay. Greet parents and guardians in a friendly, professional manner. Wear a YMCA name tag while on duty. Enforce the Child Watch no food or snacks policy. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. Current CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire). Documentation of a current physical examination and TB skin test. Must successfully pass all required criminal background checks and fingerprinting as required by the local jurisdiction. Experience working with children in a childcare, camp, school, or recreational setting is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and coworkers. Dependable, patient, creative, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
