Job Description

The City of Kalamazoo Parks and Recreation department is looking for dependable and responsible individuals to work at Kik Pool for the 2026 Summer Season. This is seasonal/temporary employment. 269-337-8191 Open and close the pool each day, depending on schedule and hours Monitor pool chemicals to ensure the pool is safe for bathers Monitor pool-related activities closely throughout shift and identify and respond accordingly to any safety issues or concerns Direct swimmers out of the pool in hazardous conditions Monitor weather reports closely to ensure safety of guests Provide swimming lessons Maintain a clean environment in and around the pool and locker rooms Must be at least 16 years of age, if 16-18 years old, must provide a work permit. Must be available to work between May - August. Must be Ellis Lifeguard Certified before employment will begin. All necessary training and expenses are provided by the City of Kalamazoo. All training is provided. Prior pool/lifeguard experience is not necessary, but preferred. The City of Kalamazoo is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
