The Program Staff Lifeguard ensures patron safety and protect lives, including their own. The most important duty the lifeguard has in meeting that responsibility is patron surveillance, keeping a close watch over people in the facility.Job Summary:
Maintain continuous surveillance of people in swimming poolsEnsure appropriate headcount of people involved in a watersport on an hourly basisCall out warnings to people who may have ventured too far or are in imminent dangerProvide safety information to people prior to them indulging in a water sportSupervise swimmers to ensure that they are swimming within the safety protocolsSpot hazards or potential hazards and take measures to prevent accidentsControl and report unruly behavior and evict individuals not adhering to behavior protocolsPerform rescues in the event of drowning or swimming accidentsPerform first aid and CPR according to the demands of adverse situationsTeach swimming techniques and safety education to new swimmersCheck safety of equipment and perform needed maintenanceQualifications:
15 years of age or olderComfort in waterDesire to work with kidsAbility to do basic skills in waterHolds current certification in Lifeguard Training by a nationally recognized training organization.Concussion training required (provided by employer), CPR/ AED and First Aid training recommended.
