Job Description
General Description Work is performed under the direction of the Aquatic Programmer and Aquatic Manager. Performs difficult technical and physical work supervising patrons participating in swim team activities. Essential Functions Supervising and instructing swim team participants, performing related tasks; Performs duties of lifeguard to watch over the swim practice and meets; Assures the safety of patrons of all ages; Instructs patrons as relates to aquatics center rules, regulations, and procedures; Ensures the equipment use for swim club is put up daily; Makes sure the area used is kept clean at all times; Prepares written and oral reports and performs related tasks as required; Assists Aquatic Programmer with swim team practice and meets. Typical Qualifications Advanced swimming lesson instructor and/or some form of swim team coach background preferred. CPR, AED, and First Aid certified. Recommended Lifeguard certified. Complete understanding and ability to follow written departmental policies; Knowledge of the practices, methods, and policies used in municipal aquatic center operations; Knowledge of state and local regulations relating to swimming pools; Ability to direct and supervise patrons of all ages; Ability to follow instructions from supervisors(s); Ability to establish and maintain working relationship with city officials, supervisor(s), co-workers, aquatic center patrons and guests, groups, agencies, and the general public. Physical Demands To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects, work requires swimming, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, grasping, feeling, lifting, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas and to communicate instructions accurately, loudly, or quickly by means of the spoken work.
