7:30-10:30 AM & 4:30-8:30PM, Wednesday:
7:30-10:30 AM & 4:30-8:30PM, Friday:
7:30-10:30AM, Saturday:
8:00-11:30 AMDESCRIPTION
Under direct supervision, an employee in this class performs skilled public safety work, in a town or village facility, monitoring the activities of swimmers in swimming pools. The Lifeguard is responsible for safeguarding patrons to prevent injury or loss of life; and for administering first aid or artificial resuscitation when necessary. Work is performed in accordance with the rules and regulations in effect at the facility and in accordance with state and/or local codes; and supervision is received from a superior who assigns duties and reviews work by observation. Does related work as required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATONS
None.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
• At the time of appointment, candidates must possess a current certificate as a Lifeguard for still water issued by a New York State Department of Health approved testing agency and maintain said certificate throughout employment in this position; At the time of appointment, candidates must possess a current certificate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, issued by the American Red Cross or Heart Association; and maintain said certificate throughout employment in this position; Candidates must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.
