SEASONAL: Lifeguard/Swim Instructor - Oasis Day Camp in Dobbs Ferry

Oasis was founded by experienced childhood educators, psychologists, and developmental specialists, Oasis Day Camp prides itself on nurturing children ages 3 to 16 to feel safe and confident both physically and emotionally. Our camp directors and leaders are school teachers and senior youth workers who painstakingly hand select counselors, activity specialists, and instructors with experience and passion for child development and emotional growth. Job Overview The Program Specialist reports either to the Program Director or the Athletic Director, as assigned, and is responsible for designing and leading engaging, age-appropriate activities within their specialty area. Program Specialists inspire creativity, skill-building, and teamwork while maintaining a safe and fun learning environment. They collaborate with the Program Director and Leadership Team to ensure programming supports Oasis's mission and values. Responsibilities Risk and Safety Maintain a constant awareness of camper and staff safety in all areas of camp. Follow all Oasis Day Camp and Department of Health safety guidelines and protocols. Identify and respond to potential hazards quickly and effectively. Ensure campers use equipment and facilities appropriately and safely. Report all accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions immediately to the Camp Director or Health Director. Participate in all required safety drills, emergency response procedures, and training sessions. Model safe behavior and teach campers personal responsibility for safety Program Planning & Delivery Develop and deliver daily lesson plans and activities within your specialty area. Ensure activities are inclusive, safe, and engaging for all age groups. Adapt programming as needed for different ages and abilities. Maintain and organize all program materials and equipment. Camper Engagement Create an encouraging and supportive environment for campers to explore and learn. Model teamwork, creativity, and respect in all interactions. Tailor activities to various ages, abilities and interests of campers, 3-10 years old. Promote skill development and confidence through positive reinforcement. Collaboration & Leadership Work with the Program Director to align programming with camp-wide goals. Collaborate with counselors to ensure campers and counselors are engaged in the activity. At the direction of the Program Director, help with camp Special Events set-up, execution, and break down as needed. Provide feedback and communicate any camper or program needs to leadership. Who You Are Energetic and enthusiastic about your specialty area. Experienced in teaching or leading activities for children. Creative, organized, and adaptable in a camp setting. Excellent communicator and collaborator with staff and campers alike. Committed to creating a fun and safe environment for all participants. Qualifications Experience in your specialty area (education, recreation, or instruction). Prior experience working with children preferred. Strong organizational and leadership skills.
