CPR Full Job Description Position Overview:
The Aquatics Instructor is responsible for delivering high‑quality swim instruction, promoting water safety, and supporting daily pool operations within the Lanza Activities Center. The role also supports youth aquatic training and certification courses. This position ensures that youth and families experience safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate aquatic programming aligned with the agency's goals for skill‑building, therapeutic recreation, and positive youth development. The Aquatics Instructor collaborates across departments to enhance agency‑wide recreation and family initiatives.
Position Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate or bachelor's degree in Recreation, Physical Education, or related field preferred. Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification, CPR, and First Aid required. Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification required or obtained within 6 months of hire. Experience teaching swim lessons or working in an aquatic environment required. Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred. Strong communication skills with ability to engage youth in structured, supportive instruction. • Valid NYS Driver's License required.
