Job Description
A Brief Overview Purpose of a lifeguard is to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) takes over. What You Will Do Lifeguard is responsible for maintaining a safe environment. Ensures safety of staff, members and guests in pool area. Maintains safe environment at all times, keeping pool deck dry, clean, and clear of obstacles. Perform water tests on pools and spas at specified times. Report any problems to supervisor or building manager immediately. Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation. Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace. Education High School Equivalent / GED (Preferred) Work Experience Previous lifeguard experience. (Preferred) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Working knowledge of pool filtration systems (Preferred proficiency) Licenses and Certifications Current lifeguard training certificate (including First Aid, AED, CPR for Professional Rescuer) from American Red Cross or equivalent nationally recognized organization.
