As a Lifeguard, you will play a vital role in ensuring a safe, welcoming, and engaging aquatic environments for all. Position Summary Under the direction of the Aquatics Program Director, the Lifeguard is responsible for maintaining a safe aquatic environment by preventing and responding to emergencies. This role supports swimming lesson instructors, assists with facility upkeep, and performs opening and closing duties in alignment with YMCA policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities Maintain constant surveillance of the pool area to ensure member safety Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, including water rescues and first aid situations Enforce all YMCA aquatic safety policies and procedures Assist swimming lesson instructors as needed Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of aquatic areas Complete opening and closing duties as assigned Provide excellent customer service to members, participants, and guests Model YMCA core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility Qualifications Minimum age of 16 years old Current Lifeguard Certification (or ability to obtain prior to employment) Strong swimming skills, including front crawl and breaststroke Ability to pass a pre-employment swim test Positive, enthusiastic, and responsible attitude Ability to work effectively with children, teens, and adults Commitment to safety and member engagement Requirements Successful completion of background check prior to hire Completion of required Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) Training Ability to remain alert and attentive for extended periodsCompensation & Schedule Starting Pay:
$12.00 per hourSchedule:
