Job Description

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Lifeguards are responsible for the safety and wellbeing of patrons in the facility by providing proactive swimmer protection, basic life support, rule enforcement and first aid care. Lifeguard certified in house upon hiring by an Ellis & Associates lifeguard instructor and will be a certified Ellis & Associates lifeguard up to 12 feet of water. Aquatics Lifeguards must pass prerequisites in order to pass the lifeguard training and obtain an Ellis and Associates Lifeguard certification. Ability to retrieve a 10lb dive bricks from the bottom of the facility's deepest pool (12ft), swim 200 yards without stopping, and tread water for 2 minutes without the use of hands. Watch the water carefully in order to prevent drownings, and when an emergency arises, lifeguards will know how to respond and do so accordingly. Rescues guests in the water who are struggling or require assistance Enforces all facility rules and regulations and educates guests on the rules & regulations in order to minimize injuries and medical emergencies. Ability to quickly recognize and respond to medical emergencies. Ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and deliver oxygen using various oxygen delivery devices. Ability to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) during medical emergencies. Communicate to other staff members and management when an emergency arises and if additional assistance and materials are needed. Provide information important for incident reports and provide proper documentation for medical situations that require it. Provide first aid for minor and major injuries that may happen to guests in the park. Perform regularly assigned cleaning duties by management and will assist with opening and closing inspections of the facility's attractions and report any issues. Attend monthly inservice sessions to maintain their Ellis and Associates lifeguard certification. Display a positive attitude and greet guests with a pleasant demeanor. Handle customer complaints and concerns and bring concerns to the attention of higher management. Employees will be issued a lifeguard shirt and a whistle for a uniform, employees are responsible for providing black shorts, footwear with a back strap, a hat, sunglasses, and swimwear to wear under the shirt and shorts.
Shifts:
Shifts are typically all day from 10:30am-8:30pm. The Lagoon is closed Mondays & Tuesdays. This lifeguard position is a seasonal position from spring-early fall.
