POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Under the supervision of the Branch Senior Director, this person is responsible for the honest, efficient, timely, and accurate accomplishment of the essential functions of this position. The Aquatics Coordinator will understand and communicate the YMCA mission, values, and member service commitment in all aspects of the Aquatics Department. The purpose and primary responsibility of this position is to assist the Senior Director in all aspects of this Department with an emphasis on highly trained Aquatics staff and quality Youth & Family programming.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Serve on the association-side leadership team and represent the Y in the community. Develop, train and lead staff and programming which includes, but is not limited to: Ensure a safe, diverse, and engaging aquatics environment. Hire, train, and supervise lifeguards, swim instructors, water aerobics, and other aquatics staff. Oversee direct delivery of safe and high-quality programming. Create, publish, and oversee staff schedules. Provide assistance and/or back up for staff absences. Organize and lead in-service trainings and staff meetings. Coordinate the purchase of program supplies and/or equipment. Maintain a high knowledge base of the YMCA personal pricing plan, current programs, sales initiatives, and special events. Address member concerns and resolve issues punctually with empathy, professionalism, and respect. Support and/or assist in the planning and execution of special events. Participate in association-wide fundraising efforts and attend events as assigned by campaign leadership. Attend leadership meetings. Perform all other duties as assigned.
LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES
Critical Thinking & Decision Making Engaging Community Program/Project Management Qualifications This position requires enthusiasm, the ability to work well with others, and a desire to motivate staff, volunteers, and members in an effort to improve their level of health and wellness. The position focuses primarily on maintaining safe, quality-driven programs following guidelines set by the YMCA of the USA and the South Sound YMCA Association. Incumbent must be at least 21 years of age with appropriate experience and qualifications to instill quality program goals, objectives and standards to all staff and volunteer instructors. The incumbent must possess the management, technical and organizational skills necessary to assist in supervising an aquatics facility. Supervision and programming skills are required. The ability to lead a staff team, good verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to keep both programs and work areas organized are essential Must hold the following certifications and qualifications: Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification Current Lifeguard certification 3-5 years' experience as a lifeguard and/or swim instructor 1-3 years' supervisory experience Preferred certification and qualifications: Water Fitness Instructor certification CPO certification Bilingual - Spanish preferred Upon hire: South Sound YMCA's - New Employee Orientation must be obtained within 45-days of hire.
