Job description The Goldfish Swim School facility in Oak Creek teaches children to learn how to swim and be safe in and around the water. As a swim instructor, you'll be in tropical 90-degree water teaching swim lessons to children aged four months to 12 years old. Parents trust you to teach their children this life-saving skill with patience, energy, and enthusiasm. Requirements :
Ability to work with children Must be 15 years old to apply Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills Must pass background examinations (included with training) Must be able to be in the water for a minimum of a three-hour shift in a warm and humid environment
Duties :
Provides swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum Enforces safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents Evaluates students' progress, and completes required paperwork in a timely manner Interacts professionally with parents/guardians after each swim lesson on the activities and development of students' swim skills Uses problem-solving and creative thinking skills to identify and resolve challenges that students encounter Assists with setting up the pool prior to lessons and cleaning up after lessons including proper storage of all pool equipment and lane lines Attend paid and required workshops and in-service training outside of regular working hours
Education/Experience :
No experience is necessary. This is a great first job and part-time job for teenagers in high school and/or college students. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or childcare provider a plus! Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certification will be required. For those not already certified, Goldfish Swim School provides certification courses in our facility which all employees are required to complete within 3 months of employment.
