Description:
The Housekeeping Specialist is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the Food Bank's offices, common areas, meeting spaces, restrooms, breakrooms, and other assigned areas. This position plays a vital role in supporting employees, volunteers, visitors, and community partners by ensuring the facility reflects the organization's commitment to excellence, safety, and respect.
Requirements:
Key Responsibilities Clean and sanitize offices, conference rooms, reception areas, hallways, restrooms, breakrooms, and other assigned spaces. Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors, furniture, fixtures, and other surfaces. Empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners throughout the facility. Clean and disinfect restrooms while ensuring supplies remain fully stocked. Maintain breakrooms by cleaning appliances, countertops, sinks, cabinets, tables, and ensure supplies remain fully stocked. Clean interior glass, doors, windows, and other high-touch surfaces. Replenish restroom, kitchen, and housekeeping supplies as needed. Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or equipment issues to the Facilities Manager promptly. Operate housekeeping equipment safely and according to manufacturer guidelines. Assist with room setup and breakdown for meetings, trainings, and special events when needed. Support housekeeping needs before, during, and after volunteer events or community activities. Follow all organizational safety procedures, food safety standards, and infection prevention practices. Maintain an organized housekeeping storage area and monitor inventory of cleaning supplies. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Previous housekeeping, custodial, or commercial cleaning experience preferred. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards. Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism. Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude. Physical Requirements Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, and reach throughout the workday. Lift and carry up to 30 pounds regularly. Push and pull housekeeping carts and cleaning equipment. Work safely around cleaning chemicals using appropriate personal protective equipment. Ability to perform repetitive cleaning tasks throughout the shift.
