Job Description

Banquet Houseman The Park Club - 3.5 Costa Mesa, CA Job Details Full-time $22 - $24 an hour 1 hour ago Qualifications Moving Full Job Description Banquet Houseman The Role The Park Club is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Banquet Houseman to help create exceptional events for our members and guests. This position plays an important role behind the scenes of every successful event. From intimate private dinners to large club functions, the Banquet Houseman is responsible for making sure our event spaces are properly set, organized, maintained, and ready for service. Tables, chairs, linens, dance floors, risers, equipment, and room layouts must be completed accurately and presented to the standards expected of a private club. This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in their work, notices the details others may overlook, and understands that a room should be completely ready before the first guest arrives. What You'll Do Working from Banquet Event Orders and floor plans, you will prepare event spaces according to each function's specific requirements. This includes arranging tables and chairs, setting equipment, installing dance floors and risers when required, preparing service areas, and ensuring the finished room is clean, organized, functional, and presentation-ready. Throughout events, you will work closely with our banquet, service, culinary, and event teams to keep operations moving smoothly. At times, this may include assisting with food running, bussing, room changes, replenishment, or responding to last-minute event needs. Following each event, you will assist with the breakdown and reset of the space while ensuring banquet equipment and storage areas remain clean, organized, and properly maintained. Most importantly, we expect our Houseman team to take ownership of the spaces they are responsible for. If something is out of place, incomplete, damaged, or not up to standard, we expect you to recognize it and take action rather than waiting to be asked. Our Service Standard At The Park Club, every position contributes to the member experience. Our service philosophy is built around three steps: warm welcomes, magic moments, and fond farewells. While much of the Houseman role happens behind the scenes, you will regularly interact with members and guests and are expected to do so with professionalism, confidence, and genuine hospitality. Successful team members communicate well, work with urgency, support the people around them, and understand that no task is beneath them when it contributes to a successful event. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is reliable, organized, physically capable, and comfortable working in a fast-moving event environment. Previous banquet, hotel, private club, restaurant, catering, or event setup experience is preferred, but attitude, work ethic, and attention to detail are equally important.
The ideal candidate:
Takes pride in completing a room correctly, not simply quickly Can read and follow event orders, diagrams, and instructions Communicates effectively with managers and fellow team members Works with urgency while maintaining attention to detail Is comfortable adapting when event requirements change Takes initiative instead of waiting to be directed Understands the importance of cleanliness, organization, and presentation Maintains a professional appearance and follows club grooming and uniform standards Physical Requirements This is an active, physical position. Candidates must be comfortable standing and walking for extended periods and regularly bending, reaching, kneeling, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving banquet equipment. The position requires the ability to safely move tables, chairs, dance-floor sections, risers, linens, glassware, silverware, and other event equipment. Candidates must be capable of lifting and carrying heavy items independently when appropriate and working as part of a team for larger equipment. Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the club's event schedule, is expected. What Success Looks Like Success in this role is simple: when the doors open, the room is ready. The setup matches the event plan. Equipment is in place. Storage areas are organized. The room is clean. The service team has what it needs. And members never see the work it took to make everything happen. We are looking for someone who wants to take ownership of that standard and become an important part of The Park Club's event team.
