Housekeeper

Description The Vanguard School seeks a Housekeeper to join our facilities team. The Housekeeper works under the direction of the Director of Facilities. The Housekeeper is a 10-month full-time $15.00 hourly position with an extensive employee benefit package. We are looking for a professional Housekeeper able to attend to our facilities with integrity and attention to detail. The goal is to create a clean and orderly environment for our students/employees/guests that will become a critical factor in maintaining and strengthening our reputation. Assisting with the day-to-day operation and cleaning and sanitizing of all school buildings by performing a wide variety of tasks/care of a 24/7 residential community. Other duties include assisting with all school-related event set-ups, keeping inventory, and stocking adequate supplies and equipment for buildings, bathrooms, dormitories, offices, the cafe, and other daily operations. Must have the ability to work unsupervised, independently, and in a team environment. Regular working hours are from 5:30 am to 2:00 pm, Monday thru Friday with a monthly Saturday or Sunday duty. Occasional activities such as weather conditions, emergencies or dorm/housing/cafe/plumbing issues may require your attendance outside of regular working hours. These demands must be satisfied as part of your job duties. Requirements Perform a variety of cleaning activities such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and polishing Vacuum, mop, empty trash, and disinfect every classroom, office space, gym, Student Center, Cafe, Gym, showers, bathrooms, and residential dorms. Ensure all rooms and buildings are cared for and inspected according to the standards of the residential community Maintain spotless floors, and sanitize door handles, hallways, lobbies, stairwells, and common areas daily. Deep clean gym, dorms, bathrooms, classrooms, offices, cafe, with extra attention. Deep-clean floors and desks, sanitize tables, wipe down, and vacuum all areas daily. Student and staff restrooms/showers receive thorough disinfection, including showers, toilets, sinks, mirrors, partitions, and floors. Comprehensive deep cleaning performed during school breaks - including carpets, tile floors, desks, dorm and classrooms, bathrooms, showers, and full facility disinfection to reset the building after breaks. Notify superiors of any damages, deficits, and disturbances Deal with reasonable complaints/requests with professionalism and patience Adhere strictly to rules regarding health and safety and be aware of any company-related practices General maintenance and upkeep of a 77-acre campus containing educational buildings, extracurricular and residential housing units. Manage specific requests and emergencies from classroom teachers and boarding faculty daily. Maintenance and upkeep of all equipment and inspections. Assist the Care Team with the inventory of the cleaning supplies and equipment; organize and stock all ordered supplies after delivery. Experience with cleaning tools/products. Repair and maintain or report any minor broken furniture in classrooms, dorms, housing units and offices. Continually be alert for any safety issues, repair needs, cleaning needs, etc. and report those needs to the Director of Facilities. Ability to receive direction and work effectively and independently with a wide variety of people and maintain professional relationships with other employees, students and contractors. Be a team player and capable of working in a team environment to accomplish the task at hand Occasional activities such as social events, hurricanes, storms, weather conditions, school owned homes and dorm emergency repairs may require your attendance outside of regular working hours. These demands must be satisfied as part of your job duties. Additional Job Requirements All Vanguard employees must clear a criminal background check. High School Diploma or equivalent. 2 years of proven housekeeping/cleaner experience preferred. Self- starter with good time management skills. Comfortable working both independently & with other team members. Good communication skills. Ability to support multiple projects & changing priorities. Report any issues to buildings, equipment Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance Customer-oriented and friendly Prioritization and time management skills Working quickly without compromising quality Ability to meet deadlines and interruptions. Ability to work in a sometimes physically demanding job that includes walking & standing for extended periods of time & occasional heavy lifting (50lbs +).
