A housekeeper's main responsibility is to provide clean and comfortable guest rooms in line with hotel standards, while ensuring guest satisfaction by providing friendly and courteous service. To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility in a safe and satisfactory manner, and the individual must be punctual and have a good attendance record, and have reliable means of transportation to work. Assist all guests in a sincere and courteous manner, whenever possible going the extra mile and doing whatever it takes to ensure guest satisfaction. Thoroughly and correctly clean and set up guest rooms according to hotel operational policies and standards to ensure guest satisfaction. Maintain clean and orderly cart and vacuum cleaner to maximize job efficiency. Reports all "DO NOT DISTURB
" (" DND ") or bolted door rooms to the general manager at the specified time to ensure guest safety and maximize gust satisfaction. Organize storage areas to ensure the quality of the contents and to maximize job efficiency. Check stock to determine adequacy for day's work Re-stock storage rooms and/or carts Pull damaged and/or rewash linen and returns it to the laundry storage areas Lock linen closets, linen chutes, and trash chutes to ensure maximum safety and security at all times. Remove trash, debris and cobwebs from balcony/patio. Inspect condition of planters and plants; remove debris. Remove dust, dirt, marks and fingerprints from entrance door(s). Ensure presence of fire safety, rate cards, and DND sign. Inspect condition and replace as needed. Remove dust, dirt, and smudges from A/C unit, vents, grids, and thermostat. Set thermostat to degrees. Remove dust, stains, and marks from all baseboards, ledges, and corners. Vacuum carpet in guest room. Spray room with deodorizer. Update status of rooms cleaned on assignment sheet. Return and restock cart at end of shift. Empty vacuum bag and wipe vacuum clean. Ensure security of any assigned guest room keys. Report any damages or maintenance problems to the Supervisor. Turn over any lost and found items from guest rooms to the Supervisor. Understand and apply all hotel safety and security procedures as required to maintain a secure and safe environment for employees and guests. Keep immediate superior promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance coming to his/her attention so prompt corrective action can be taken. Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards. Have knowledge and demonstrate familiarity with all safety rules and policies and all requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (" OSHA "). Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended. Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day. Maintain positive guest relations at all times. Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately. Resolve guest complaints as possible, ensuring guest satisfaction. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements. Clean guest rooms by category priority. Transport cart with cleaning supplies, amenities, and linens to assigned guest room and position securely. Service assigned guest rooms. Empty trash containers and ashtrays. Remove all dirty terry and replace with clean pair to designated layout. Remove soil, dirt, soap build-up, and hair from bathroom mirrors, vanity, sink, toilet, shower walls, bathtub, shower curtain, and floor. Replace facial, toilet tissue, and bathroom amenities in correct amount and location. Inspect condition of bathrobes and replace soiled/damaged ones. Remove dirty bed linen and make up bed with clean linen. Replace laundry bags and slips. Clean closets and door tracks on check-out rooms, removing dust and debris. Ensure correct amount and placement of hangers, extra blanket/pillow, and luggage rack. Dust and polish all furniture. Realign furniture to floor plan. Open all drawers/doors in check-out rooms and remove items left by guest. Dust inside. Check under bed(s), chairs and sofa for debris and remove if present. Inspect condition of all furniture for tears, rips or stains; report any damages to the supervisor. Remove all dust, debris, and foreign particles from upholstered furniture including crevices and under cushions. Dust pictures, frames, and mirrors. Remove dust and debris on television, VCR, clock radio, remote control, and cable box. Set correct time on clock; correct TV channel; correct movie rental insert. Clean all lamps and light switches; check for proper working order. Remove dust, spots, and smears from windows, ledges and frames. Remove dust, grease, and smears from telephones and reposition properly. Empty liquid from ice bucket and wipe all surfaces dry. Remove dust, smudges, and spills from mini bar; ensure mini bar is plugged in and securely locked. Remove dust on drapes weekly and realign to correct position daily. Inspect condition of amenities in desk, drawers and guest service directory; replace designated amounts at proper location within the room. Remove trash, debris and cobwebs from balcony/patio. Make up cribs and rollaway beds. Re-hang and refold guest clothing. Maintain high standards or appearance and grooming. A complete uniform (or business dress for non-uniformed associates) must be worn at all times in public areas, including name tag. Perform other duties as requested or required.Secondary Job Functions:

Good hand dexterity required to dust, polish, make beds, fold towels, etc. Grooming must meet property standards. Work cohesively with co-workers as part of team. Understand guest's service needs, Ability to: Perform job functions with attention to detail speed and accuracy. Prioritize and organize. Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment. Follow directions thoroughly. Understand guest's service needs. Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team. Work with minimal supervision. Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data. Satisfactorily communicate with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding.Desirable:
Some college or training in Hospitality Industry. Previous experience as Housekeeper. Fluency in a foreign language, preferably. Previous guest relations training. Knowledge of proper chemical handling.Education:
High school graduate or equivalent. Must be able to speak, read, write, or otherwise communicate, and understand English used in the workplace. Must be able to speak, or otherwise communicate, and understand the primary language(s) used by guests who visit the workplace .Physical:
