Responsibilities Perform thorough cleaning of patient rooms, operating areas, restrooms, hallways, and common spaces using appropriate cleaning equipment and chemical agents. Handle laundry duties efficiently, including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and distributing linens and uniforms according to hospital procedures. Follow strict safety protocols for chemical handling and manual handling to prevent injuries and ensure environmental safety. Maintain sanitation standards by disinfecting surfaces, floors, and equipment in compliance with healthcare infection prevention guidelines. Use proper floor care techniques to ensure all flooring surfaces are clean, safe, and well-maintained. Operate janitorial equipment safely and effectively to maximize cleaning efficiency while minimizing hazards. Support environmental services initiatives by adhering to OSHA regulations and hospital-specific safety protocols at all times. Assist with heavy lifting tasks using safe lifting practices when moving supplies or equipment. Contribute to a positive patient experience through courteous customer service and respectful interactions with staff and visitors. Requirements Proven experience in janitorial or custodial roles within healthcare facilities or similar environments. Knowledge of OSHA standards related to workplace safety, chemical handling, and sanitation procedures. Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention and control practices is highly desirable. Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely, including heavy lifting and prolonged standing or walking. Experience operating cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, buffers, or vacuums is preferred. Strong understanding of sanitation standards specific to healthcare settings. Excellent customer service skills with a professional attitude toward patients, staff, and visitors. Ability to follow detailed cleaning protocols consistently while maintaining high-quality standards.
