Position Description:
Supports the department of Housekeeping by providing a safe, clean, and well-maintained facility.
Position Responsibilities:
Performing scheduled tasks are listed as, but not limited to, the following:
Cleaning and maintaining floors; shampoo carpetsSweeping walksDust and washing windows, walls, ceilings, vents, chalkboards, furniture, fixtures, and equipmentCleaning and disinfecting restroomsRemoving waste from all designated areasRestocking disposable items
Education and Experience:
High School education is desirable
Schedule:
This is a per diem, non-exempt position of up to 24 hours per weekScheduling flexibility is required, as this position is essential personnel and may be required to work weekends, holidays and during college administrative closings
Equipment:
Some of the equipment used in this position is, but is not limited to, the following: Floor scrubbers, auto-scrubbersBurnishersCarpet extractors, wet vacsPressure washersWashers and dryersBrooms, shovels, mops, and vacuums
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
General knowledge and skills related to housekeeping and light maintenance work, with commercial/ institutional cleaning experience is also desirableMust have a valid drivers license, complete a driver training program and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record for job duties that require driving a company vehicleAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals is necessaryThe ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule formGood understanding of institutional housekeeping operationsFamiliarity with applicable procedures, common housekeeping practices and standardsMust work cooperatively and professionally with a wide variety of College personnel as well as outside vendors and contractors.
