Job Description

The Environmental Services Technician (Housekeeper) is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the facility. This role supports patient safety and infection prevention by ensuring patient care areas, public spaces, and support areas meet established cleanliness and infection control standards. The technician plays a key role in creating a comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Schedule Monday-Thursday, with occasional Fridays 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM Key Responsibilities Cleaning & Sanitation Clean and disinfect pre-operative and post-operative areas, corridors, restrooms, and common areas Disinfect surfaces, floors, walls, and furniture in accordance with infection control standards Routinely clean high-touch areas (e.g., doorknobs, light switches, bedrails) Clean and disinfect equipment such as medical carts, wheelchairs, and stretchers Infection Control Follow proper infection prevention protocols, including safe use of cleaning chemicals and disinfectants Dispose of biohazardous waste and sharps in compliance with safety and infection control guidelines Waste Management Collect, handle, and dispose of regular and medical waste according to facility procedures Empty trash and ensure proper waste separation (recyclable, non-recyclable, hazardous) Handle and dispose of soiled linens appropriately Equipment & Supplies Maintain and stock cleaning carts with necessary supplies Restock linens and facility supplies, including receiving deliveries Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to leadership Patient & Visitor Support Maintain cleanliness in patient areas, waiting rooms, and hallways to promote a welcoming environment Respond courteously to patient and visitor needs when appropriate Safety & Compliance Follow all safety protocols, including OSHA and facility-specific guidelines Maintain a safe work environment by addressing hazards such as spills or obstructed walkways Follow procedures for emergency situations (e.g., spills, accidents) Team Collaboration Partner with clinical and non-clinical staff to prioritize cleaning needs Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure timely completion of tasks Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required Previous housekeeping, janitorial, or environmental services experience preferred (healthcare setting a plus) Knowledge & Skills Basic understanding of infection control practices and cleaning procedures Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols Effective time management and organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds, as needed Ability to stand, bend, squat, and kneel for extended periods Ability to work in clinical and sterile environments Work Environment Fast-paced outpatient surgical setting Exposure to cleaning chemicals and potentially hazardous materials (PPE provided) What We Offer Competitive wages Generous paid time off (PTO) Robust benefit package including medical, dental, life and disability (short- and long-term) insurance Seven (7) company-paid holidays 401(k) retirement plan with company match A people-centered organization focused on People, Passion, Purpose, and Progress Supportive and inspirational workplace culture About Midwest Vision Partners Midwest Vision Partners was founded in 2019 to build a premier eye care platform in partnership with Alpine Investors, a San Francisco-based private equity firm.
