Must be 21+ About Drink A Bull Drink A Bull is a fruit winery, tasting room, and Tea House in Durham, NC. We bring together loose leaf tea, fruit wines, cocktails, beer, and community in a relaxed, welcoming space designed for people to actually enjoy spending time in. Our Tea House service begins when we open at noon and carries through the early afternoon. This position is responsible for opening the space, welcoming our daytime guests, preparing and serving tea, and keeping the Tasting Room & Tea House clean, stocked, organized, and guest-ready. About the Position We are looking for a Tea House Associate to work our opening and early afternoon shifts. This is not a high-pressure, high-volume barista environment. It is a calm, detail-focused hospitality role for someone who can work independently, recognize what needs attention, and take pride in maintaining a clean, comfortable, welcoming space. The Tea House Associate is often the person who sets the tone for the entire day. A successful opening shift means guests walk into a space that feels ready, relaxed, and inviting from the moment the doors open. What You'll DoOpen & Prepare the Space As an opening employee, you help make sure Drink A Bull is fully guest-ready for the day.
Typical opening responsibilities include:
Open the customer entrance and prepare the space for service Turn on lights, fans, music, televisions, signage, and appropriate guest-area equipment Turn on the illuminated Open sign Set out porch furniture Set out outdoor signage and flags Fill and place the dog-water bowls Prepare outdoor fans when appropriate for the weather Check the guest restroom for cleanliness and supplies Prepare the dishwasher for service Fill and maintain the ice chest Check glassware and make sure clean glasses are polished and ready Wipe tables, the bar, and guest-facing surfaces Sweep the porch, entrance, and visibly dirty guest areas Spot-clean floors, windows, and other surfaces as needed Opening the doors is only one part of opening. The shift is ready when the space is guest-ready. Tea House & Guest Service You will help create a relaxed and welcoming daytime experience for our guests.
Responsibilities include:
Prepare and serve loose leaf teas using established recipes and steeping procedures Help guests explore tea options Make recommendations based on guest preferences Explain Tea House offerings in a friendly and approachable way Operate Square POS for orders and payments Process transactions accurately Greet and acknowledge guests promptly Maintain a conversational, comfortable atmosphere Clear and reset tables as guests leave Keep guest areas clean and presentable Be available to guests without hovering You do not need to arrive as a tea expert. You do need to be interested in learning our teas, preparation methods, products, and service standards. Cleaning, Stocking & Resetting This position includes real hospitality work beyond taking orders. During slower periods, Tea House Associates are expected to keep the space clean, stocked, organized, and prepared.

Wash dishware and glassware Polish and restock clean glassware Restock tea and Tea House supplies Restock cups, paper goods, and other service items Keep service and prep areas organized Wipe tables, counters, handles, windows, and visible surfaces Check and maintain the guest restroom Refresh outdoor guest areas Keep the porch and entrance presentable Sweep guest areas when needed Spot-clean spills, sticky areas, and tracked-in messes Straighten furniture, menus, displays, signs, and service areas Monitor trash and recycling Identify supplies that are becoming low Return frequently used items to their proper locations Keep the overall room looking intentional and guest-ready Our operating mindset is simple: Quiet time is reset time. A relaxed workplace does not mean sitting around waiting for something to happen. When business is quiet, we use that time to handle dishes, cleaning, stocking, organization, glassware, restroom checks, porch upkeep, and other guest-readiness responsibilities. Once the space is fully reset and responsibilities are handled, employees are encouraged to be visible and welcoming, including interacting with neighbors, visitors, dogs, and passersby when appropriate. Setting Up the Next Shift for Success The Tea House Associate also helps prepare the space for the next phase of the day. Before the end of the shift, responsibilities may include: Finish outstanding dishes Polish and restock glassware Refill ice Restock service items Organize and put away Tea House supplies Clean and reset guest areas Restock frequently used items Make sure the restroom is clean and supplied Address visible cleaning needs Leave work areas organized for the next employee The goal is to hand off a clean, stocked, guest-ready room with no hidden catch-up work waiting for the next person. Reliability, initiative, attention to detail, and genuine hospitality matter more to us than having the perfect resume. Age Requirement All Drink A Bull team members must be 21 or older . Drink A Bull operates as both a Tea House and an alcohol-serving tasting room. Although this position is primarily focused on Tea House and daytime operations, limited tasting-room or alcohol-related responsibilities may occasionally be required depending on scheduling, coverage, and training.
