The Housekeeper plays an essential role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, residents, visitors, and staff throughout the hospital and long-term care facilities. This position is responsible for performing a variety of housekeeping and sanitation duties in patient rooms, common areas, offices, restrooms, and other designated areas in accordance with hospital infection control standards and established cleaning procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clean and sanitize patient rooms, resident rooms, bathrooms, offices, hallways, waiting areas, and common spaces. Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum, and disinfect assigned areas. Empty trash and biohazard waste containers following established safety protocols. Replenish supplies such as paper products, soap, and sanitizing products. Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces to support infection prevention efforts. Maintain floors through routine cleaning and polishing procedures. Follow all hospital safety, infection control, and confidentiality policies. Properly use and store cleaning chemicals and equipment. Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and supply needs to the appropriate department. Assist with special cleaning projects as assigned. Maintain a professional and courteous attitude with patients, residents, visitors, and coworkers. Qualifications Required High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous housekeeping, environmental services, hospitality, or healthcare cleaning experience preferred, but not required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to: Stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods. Use hands and fingers to handle, feel, grasp, and operate cleaning equipment. Reach with hands and arms. Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed. Frequently lift, carry, push, and/or move up to 50 pounds. Perform repetitive cleaning and sanitation tasks.
