Job Description

Elmira College is a private liberal arts College located in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Seeking innovative professionals from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds to fill the position of Housekeeper to join the open and welcoming Housekeeping team. The Housekeeper is responsible for attending to our facilities with integrity and attention to detail. The professional Housekeeping staff at Elmira College create a clean and orderly environment for Students, Staff, and any guests that visit our Campus.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
: Maintaining supplies; stocking supplies in closets or storage areas; Dusting and polishing; Vacuuming and carpet cleaning; may use a floor buffer, broom, mop, etc. Washing windows, walls, and woodwork; Removing trash and recyclables; Stripping and re-finishing hard floors; Clean and disinfect bathrooms (showers, toilets, etc.).
QUALIFICATIONS
: High school education and/ or GED preferred; 6 months related experience preferred; Able to stand for long periods of time and the ability to stoop, bend, twist, and reach; Able to lift and carry 50+ pounds; Maintain flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed; Ability to use a computer/Tablet for email and record keeping.

COMPENSATION

WORKING CONDITIONS
: Work is primarily performed in an indoor campus setting. In some cases, housekeepers may be outdoors when having to walk from building to building. Housekeepers work with cleaning chemicals and may be in contact with soiled items, body fluids, airborne particles, fumes, and dust. Noise level is typically low to moderate. Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time.
