Job Description

The Houseperson is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the outdoor areas and grounds, stocking supplies, and accommodating requests from various departments. The Houseperson also directly assists guests and must provide the best possible customer service experience for them. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Maintain the outside appearance of the buildings, pools, ponds and parking areas
  • Empty trash cans and ashtrays
  • Maintain clean corridors and stock rooms
  • Stock linens, cleaning supplies and guest supplies
  • Wash dishes and return to stockrooms
  • Remove dirty sheets, towels, garbage and dishes from guest rooms
  • Make beds in guest rooms
  • Assist the housekeeping, front desk, breakfast and laundry staff as needed
  • Answer guest questions and provide directions
  • Deliver guest baggage or requested items to rooms
  • Respond to guest service calls and refer to Maintenance Department to assist if necessary
  • Assist Maintenance personnel when needed
  • Run errands, if hired as a driving Houseperson
  • Perform other duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to be welcoming and courteous to guests, coworkers and vendors
  • Must be organized and able to multitask
  • Ability to remain cheerful under stress
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions
  • Good knowledge of the local area and businesses
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic math and reading skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous related work experience
  • High school diploma or
GED REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
  • Must pass a criminal background check
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Work requires repeated bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling and climbing of stairs
  • Work requires use of mechanized equipment such as vacuums, carpet cleaners, leaf blower, axe, hatchet, sanitizer, etc.
  • Work requires repeated contact with cleaning chemicals
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Up to 75% of work is performed outdoors in all season temperatures
WORK HOURS AND WAGE
  • Day and night shifts, weekends and holidays
  • Hourly position, Non-Exempt
  • $15.
75 per hour, with review after 90 days
