Job Overview The Houseman is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of all public areas of the hotel, assisting the housekeeping and maintenance teams, and ensuring that guests experience a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. This position plays a key role in supporting daily hotel operations by performing various cleaning, upkeep, and light maintenance tasks throughout the property. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to manage time effectively while performing various cleaning tasks. Duties Clean and maintain all public areas of the hotel, including lobbies, hallways, elevators, restrooms, fitness center, and breakfast area. Vacuum carpets, mop floors, dust furniture, and polish fixtures in assigned areas. Empty trash receptacles and replace liners throughout the property. Assist the housekeeping department by delivering linens, towels, and supplies to guest room attendants. Pick up debris and litter around the hotel grounds, parking lot, and exterior entrances. Help maintain cleanliness of back-of-house areas such as storage rooms, laundry areas, and staff corridors. Respond to guest requests promptly and courteously, assisting with luggage or other needs as directed. Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damaged equipment to management immediately. Perform light maintenance tasks as assigned, such as changing light bulbs, tightening fixtures, or basic repairs. Support maintenance team with projects or repairs when needed. Follow all safety, security, and sanitation policies and procedures. Assist with carpet cleaning and other specialized cleaning tasks as required. Maintain an organized supply inventory and report any shortages or needs for replenishment. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and high-quality service delivery. Skills Previous experience in housekeeping, custodial, or maintenance work preferred but not required. Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and guest satisfaction. Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision. Good communication and teamwork skills. Must be available to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
