General Statement of Duties (Job duties may be varied and include the following): Under the direct supervision of the Housekeeping Supervisor, Housekeepers will maintain sanitation of the community for the health, comfort and safety of Residents, staff, and visitors while ensuring high quality services. Job duties may be varied and include performing routine and emergency cleaning of resident rooms, bathrooms and showers, common areas, halls, staircases and all interior environments of Saint Francis-Manchester (SFM), and some outdoor spaces (i.e. cleaning entranceways, doors, and windows). Perform cleaning responsibilities, operate machines as instructed and in a fashion to ensure compliance with sanitation procedures, plans, and policies, and as related to environmental care, help SFM maintain compliance with ALF Regulations, health, fire, federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines. Promote a positive work environment. Must be flexible and willing to work every other weekend.
Minimum Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED. One (1) year experience in providing environmental/housekeeping. Long term care facility housekeeping experience preferred; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Physical Requirements & Work Conditions:
Must be able speak, read and write the English language; communicate effectively; sit, stand, and walk continuously with rest; use dexterity of fingers; perform fine manipulation with dominant hand and arm, and gross grasp, and pushing and pulling with both hands and arms continuously; use repetitive foot motion with both feet and legs continuously; lift 1-5 lbs continuously, 6-20 lbs frequently, 21-50 lbs occasionally, 50-over 100 lbs rarely and with assistance; bend, stoop, squat, kneel, climb/balance frequently; reach above shoulders and crawl occasionally; use repetitive arm motions frequently. Must have sufficient vision to discriminate colors and to see objects closely as in dusting and moving articles about on them. Must have adequate hearing to hear normal sounds within some background of noise and to distinguish sound as in floor buffers, vacuum cleaners. Able to remember simple and multiple tasks and assignments given to self and others ranging from short to long periods of time. Able to concentrate on fine detail with some interruption. Remember and follow multiple instructions/directions, frequently without reminders over long periods of time. Must have the ability to understand and relate to several ideas at one time, and relate to concepts/theories behind specific ideas. Must have the emotional stability to deal effectively with organizational change, stress created by Residents' illnesses, disabilities and the aging process, and working cooperatively as part of the health care team. Perform, follow and adhere to proper body mechanics necessary to perform duties. Possess the ability to perform the essential job functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations or effectively compensate for the above. Primarily work throughout the community, indoors, on any day of the week Sunday through Saturday but has some responsibilities cleaning outdoors (i.e. cleaning entranceways, doors, and windows). Must be able to work in hot and cold temperatures. Nature of work exposes employees to hazardous materials, human bodily fluids, cuts, and slips and employee must take good safety precautions to prevent the same and use universal precautions to prevent exposure. May be involved in moving equipment and furniture. Must have annual TB screening.
