JOB SUMMARY
Cleans all areas of the Sheridan Green House by performing the following duties. Essential Job Functions Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Support Services Department. Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators and stairways in a clean, neat and sanitary manner. Insures assigned areas are adequately stocked with cleaning supplies, paper products, and other essential items required to keep all areas functioning. Performs cleaning and maintenance of all floors: carpet, tile, brick and concrete flooring. Completes work assignments in a timely manner/prioritizing work assignments. Utilizes the appropriate chemicals, supplies and cleaning techniques according to procedure and manufacturers' recommendation. Assists visitors with directions whenever requested. Is trained/cross trained in all areas of the facility to ensure ability to meet workload requirements when staffing shortages and/or vacations reduce staff levels. Always introduces self to patients, families and visitors. Reports safety hazards as appropriate. Transports trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area. Replenishes supplies; notifies Manager when supplies need to be ordered. Assists with Cottage laundry - ensuring transport of soiled bed linens and towels back and forth from SMH, helps keeps track of linen inventory. Follows all infection control practices including hand washing techniques, standard precautions and isolation precautions. Participates in performance improvement activities. Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties. Works day, evening or night shift as assigned. Ability to do work on his/her own with normal supervision. Observes safety precautions at all times.
POSITION QUALIFICATION
— Education, Experience & License High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization. Additional languages preferred. Basic computer knowledge. Ability to apply common sense understanding by carrying out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to read and understand equipment manuals.
