Job Description

Job Description We process thousands of donated books every week — sorting them, scanning them, pricing them, and getting them where they need to go: sold online, stocked in our store, or given away through our free community bookstore. We're looking for someone who can sit down (or stand) at a station, get into a rhythm, and process books steadily all day. This is production work with books. The best people in this role find it satisfying to look up at the end of a shift and see how many carts they cleared. Interesting, unusual, and valuable books come through constantly — part of the job is recognizing them, setting them aside for review, and keeping the line moving. What You'll Do Scan books using our inventory software and scanning tools Sort donated books by category, condition, and resale potential Identify valuable, rare, or unusual books and set them aside for review Set aside books for our free bookstore Organize processed books onto shelves, carts, boxes, and pallets Keep your work area clean, organized, and efficient Pitch in unloading donations and moving boxes when needed Work with the team to keep inventory flowing smoothly You're a Great Fit If You like repetitive, hands-on work and can stay locked in for long stretches You work fast without getting sloppy — accuracy matters at volume You're self-motivated and stay on task without someone watching over you You're dependable and punctual You have some familiarity with books, authors, or genres — enough to spot when something is worth a second look You don't mind physical work: lifting boxes of books, bending, reaching, and being on your feet This Probably Isn't the Job For You If You're looking for general warehouse work and books are just what happens to be in the boxes You love books so much you'll want to stop and read them — we love that about you, but this role is about volume, and the books have to keep moving Experience Previous warehouse, e-commerce, inventory, or bookstore experience is helpful but not required. We'll train you on our tools and process. Physical Requirements Able to lift and move boxes of books regularly Comfortable bending, reaching, sorting, and standing for long periods Able to stay focused on repetitive tasks for a full shift Schedule Part-time or full-time, depending on availability and business needs Benefits Flexible schedule Paid time off
