About Us Sarah's Handmade Ice Cream & Treats is a small-batch ice cream company founded by a mother-daughter team in Montgomery County, Maryland. What began as a passion project has grown into multiple scoop shops across the region. Every flavor is handcrafted in small batches using premium ingredients and our own recipes. Our kitchen is the heart of the operation—where creativity, craftsmanship, and precision come together to produce the ice cream served in all of our shops. We are looking for a Production Assistant who is eager to learn and grow into a Production Associate role as they gain experience and master our production systems. Position Overview The Ice Cream Production Assistant supports the daily operations of our kitchen. This role assists with ingredient preparation, batching, packaging, labeling, and maintaining a clean and organized production environment. As the assistant develops proficiency in our recipes, SOPs, equipment, and production systems, they are promoted into the Production Associate role , where they will independently produce ice cream batches and support broader kitchen operations. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, food production, and learning new skills in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Key Responsibilities Production Support Assist with preparing ingredients for ice cream production Measure and stage ingredients according to standardized recipes Support batch production and ice cream churning Assist with filling, packing, and labeling ice cream tubs and containers Prepare products for delivery to retail locations Kitchen Organization & Sanitation Maintain strict food safety and sanitation standards Clean and sanitize equipment, work surfaces, and production areas Organize ingredients, supplies, and storage areas Ensure the production kitchen remains efficient and orderly Inventory & Ingredient Management Assist with tracking ingredient usage and restocking supplies Receive and organize ingredient deliveries Support inventory rotation and storage procedures Production Workflow Follow standardized operating procedures (SOPs) and recipes precisely Maintain production schedules to meet shop demand Work collaboratively with kitchen team members to maintain efficiency Assist with production for seasonal flavors and special products

Growth Path:

Production Associate As the Production Assistant demonstrates proficiency, independence, initiative, and reliability, they will transition into the Production Associate role , which includes: Independently producing ice cream batches using company recipes Operating production equipment Managing production timelines and batch scheduling Ensuring consistency and quality control Supporting development and scaling of new flavors Qualifications Interest in food production, culinary work, or kitchen operations Ability to follow recipes and procedures with precision Strong attention to detail and cleanliness Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Reliable and punctual with strong work ethic Ability to lift up to 40-80 pounds and work on your feet Previous kitchen or food production experience is preferred. We are happy to train candidates who are motivated to learn.
