GRADING OPERATOR

Description PURPOSE:

To input grading information and tag carcasses before further processing.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Match brisket number/ carcass I.D # that was assigned on Harvest floor Scan brisket tag that was applied to carcass on the harvest floor to input grader's information stamped on carcass. Input Quality (Prime, Choice, etc..) and Yield grades (1,2,3,4 or 5) Input other factors of grading: a/ Muscle sores b/ Discounts (dark cutter, yellows, etc.) c/ Butcher damage (mis-splits, vaccinations, etc.) d/ Cooler # (Track shrinkage) e/ Specialty program for Fab 3.Ensure input information matches scanned codes 4. Be aware of AS400 System, green alert light on computer monitor, if not lit up the computer is not on line and grading information must be manually documented with paper and clipboard method. 5.Rail out any regrade carcasses.

The Plainwell facility produces biogas in an anaerobic lagoon and uses it in place of natural gas to heat a portion of the water used in the plant. The facility was recognized by the American Meat Institute as a Tier 3 facility for its accomplishments with

ISO 14001.

Plainwell recently built a $31 million distribution center (85,000 ft²) with a 55,000 box capacity.
