Job Description
DESCRIPTION
The Grind Line Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the ground beef production process, ensuring high quality ground beef production at Great Plains Beef, a modern, USDA-inspected facility in Lincoln, Nebraska. This role ensures that all products are produced at the designated lean points, packaged efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with USDA food safety regulations. The Grind Line Supervisor will work closely with the Production Manager and Quality Assurance to maintain high standards of quality, safety, and operational efficiency.Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily ground beef production and packaging, ensuring products meet quality specifications and production goals. Monitor and adjust grind formulations, blending ratios, and fat content to meet customer and regulatory requirements. Ensure proper operation and maintenance of bowl chopper, mixers, portioning equipment, and packaging machinery. Coordinate with the Production Manager to optimize workflow and labor allocation for efficiency. Maintain an organized and sanitary work environment, ensuring equipment and workspaces are properly cleaned and sanitized. Ensure compliance with USDA regulations, HACCP, SOPs, GMPs, and internal food safety protocols. Work closely with Quality Assurance to conduct product inspections, verify specifications, and implement corrective actions when needed. Enforce proper temperature control, sanitation practices, and handling procedures for raw and finished products. Maintain traceability and batch record documentation to ensure product consistency and regulatory compliance. Supervise and train grind line employees, ensuring proper operation of equipment and adherence to safety and quality standards. Assist with equipment change overs and settings for various changes in production. Enforce workplace safety protocols to minimize risks and ensure OSHA compliance. This position requires a strong attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent communication skills. Bilingual (English/Spanish) helpful but not required. Some experience working in food production and packaging preferred. Some mechanical background helpful. Assume other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
Prior food production experience required. Prior supervising experience preferred. Strong communication skills. Good organization and high attention to details. Some experience dealing with food safety, including HACCP plans. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Ability to work in a cold environment (35º F) for extended periods of time. Bilingual skills a plus. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently, up to 70 lbs occasionally.Benefits:
