We are seeking an experienced and dependable individual to provide routine maintenance and care for freshwater aquariums at a professional facility in Philadelphia.
Schedule & Compensation Part-time:
approximately 3-5 hours per service day Service required one day every other week (approximately twice per month) Choose an available service day Monday through Friday Work must be completed during daytime business hours $30-$50 per hour , depending on experience and level of aquarium maintenance expertise Aquariums The technician will maintain three freshwater aquariums: One 150-gallon tank Two 125-gallon tanks Responsibilities Perform routine cleaning and general maintenance of all three aquariums Perform water changes/purification and maintain appropriate water conditions Test and properly balance aquarium water Use appropriate aquarium chemicals and water treatments Inspect and maintain pumps, heaters, filters, and feeders Replace filters and filter media as needed Replace fish as needed Maintain and replace stone and other routine aquarium materials as needed Provide or coordinate necessary cleaning materials and routine aquarium supplies Monitor fish health and overall tank conditions Identify and promptly report equipment problems requiring repair or replacement Maintain a clean, professional work area Provide a brief service report following each visit Qualifications Prior professional experience maintaining freshwater aquariums Experience with large aquariums (125-150 gallons preferred) Knowledge of water chemistry, filtration systems, pumps, heaters, and aquarium maintenance Ability to work independently and reliably maintain an every-other-week schedule Reliable transportation Professional demeanor appropriate for working within a federal medical facility Ability to respond to occasional aquarium emergencies is highly preferred This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced aquarium technician, aquarium hobbyist with professional-level experience, or an existing aquarium service professional looking for consistent supplemental work.
