Job Summary Join our dynamic culinary team as an Oyster Shucker, where your expertise in seafood preparation will shine! In this lively role, you will be responsible for expertly shucking oysters and other shellfish, ensuring each piece is prepared with precision and care. Responsibilities Carefully shuck oysters and shellfish using proper knife skills and slicing techniques to ensure quality and safety. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the oyster station, including cleaning tools, work surfaces, and storage areas. Assist in food preparation tasks such as slicing, portioning, and assembling seafood dishes according to recipes and menu specifications. Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including shucking knives, gloves, and other necessary tools. Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate timely food service and ensure adherence to safety standards in production. Follow food safety management protocols to prevent cross-contamination and ensure proper handling of seafood products. Support overall kitchen operations by assisting with meal preparation, ingredient organization, and maintaining a clean work environment. Experience Previous experience in seafood or shellfish shucking is preferred but not required; training will be provided for motivated candidates. Background in food service or restaurant environments demonstrating familiarity with food handling and safety standards. Knowledge of culinary techniques such as slicing, knife skills, and recipe adherence. Experience working in dietary departments or dietary aide roles is a plus. Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with kitchen staff and maintain a smooth workflow. Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely within a fast-paced setting. Prior involvement in food industry roles emphasizing cleanliness, safety standards, and quality control.
