Job Summary The Kill Floor Worker is responsible for the humane handling, slaughter, and initial processing of livestock within a slaughterhouse or abattoir environment. Duties include stunning, bleeding, hide or skin removal, evisceration, carcass preparation, and maintaining strict hygiene and safety standards throughout the slaughter process. Key Responsibilities Handle livestock calmly and humanely in accordance with animal welfare regulations. Perform slaughter operations including stunning and bleeding procedures. Remove hides, heads, feet, and internal organs using approved processing methods. Assist with carcass splitting, trimming, washing, and movement along the processing line. Operate slaughter and processing equipment safely and efficiently. Inspect carcasses for contamination and report abnormalities. Maintain sanitation and cleanliness of the kill floor and equipment. Follow food safety, HACCP, and workplace health and safety procedures. Work efficiently within production targets and processing schedules. Dispose of waste materials according to company and regulatory requirements. Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE). Skills & Experience Required Experience in slaughterhouse, meat processing, or abattoir operations preferred. Knowledge of humane slaughter techniques and animal welfare standards. Ability to work in physically demanding and fast-paced environments. Strong knife handling and equipment operation skills. Understanding of food hygiene and contamination prevention. Ability to follow strict safety procedures and instructions. Reliable attendance and teamwork skills.
