Job Description

Trident Seafoods is North America's largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company. Trident is a privately held, 100 percent USA-owned company with global operations in 6 countries and serves customers in almost 60 countries. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington (USA), Trident employs approximately 7,700 people worldwide each year and partners with over 2,700 independent fishermen and crewmembers in Alaska. Trident catches and processes virtually every commercial species of salmon, whitefish, and crab harvested in the North Pacific and Alaska. The global supply chain also encompasses cultured and wild species sourced from an international network of trusted suppliers.
Summary:
The Sawyer position operates saws, peels blocks, and loads product to the table and/or tote by performing the following duties:
Essential Functions:
(Responsibilities, Tasks, Supervisory Needs): Sets up the work area by installing and adjusting the saw blades, tables, scales, buckets, floor mats, and stands. Cuts fish into portions to meet specifications. Disassembles saw by removing and cleaning the blades at the end of the shift. Empties saw dust from collection points as necessary. Collects and stacks dirty buckets and floor mats. Cleans work area according to company standards. Reviews workspace for cleanliness and safety. Peels and strips cardboard covering from frozen fish blocks. Loads sawyer table w/ fish fillet or block to be portioned. Weighs precut portions and loads in a cardboard tote. Collects and weighs byproducts and loads as appropriate.
Additional Responsibilities:
Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions. Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings. Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned A minimum of 6 months experience operating band saws A minimum of 6 months experience in the food industry This is a nonexempt position with an hourly rate of $19.50 - $21.87 per hour plus a $0.50 shift differential. Trident Seafoods offers a comprehensive and quality benefits package. Preferred Education & Experiences:
Prior experience operating band saws or similar cutting equipment in a food manufacturing environment. Previous experience working in seafood, meat, poultry, or other food processing facilities with sanitation and food safety requirements. Experience identifying basic equipment issues such as blade condition, product flow, or setup concerns and reporting them appropriately. Demonstrated ability to consistently meet product quality, portion size, and weight specifications. Experience communicating safety, quality, or production concerns to supervisors or team leads in a manufacturing setting. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): Basic knowledge of food processing operations and safe handling of frozen fish or seafood products. Ability to safely operate band saws or similar cutting equipment after completing required training. Ability to follow cutting specifications to portion product accurately by weight and size. Ability to disassemble, clean, and reassemble saw components following sanitation and safety procedures. Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and foodsafe work area in compliance with company sanitation standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Ability to identify potential safety, quality, or equipment concerns and report them to supervision. Ability to perform repetitive tasks while standing and working with hands and arms for extended periods. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, work as part of a team, and maintain consistent attendance and reliability.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in a food processing manufacturing environment where raw and frozen seafood products are handled. The position regularly works around powered cutting equipment, including band saws, and requires strict adherence to safety procedures. Work areas may be cold, wet, or noisy, with exposure to temperature variations common in seafood processing facilities. The role requires prolonged standing, repetitive motions, and frequent lifting of product, buckets, and totes throughout the shift. Employees must follow all food safety, sanitation, environmental, and GMP requirements at all times.
Work Ability Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee moves objects regularly up to 30 pounds frequently up to 40 pounds occasionally up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
