About SFF:
At Spotted Frog Farm, we produce organic, pasture-raised eggs. As a small, family-owned farm, we take pride in our commitment to regenerative agriculture and sustainable practices. Located in Olympia, our farm includes a mix of pastures and wetlands that are home to the endangered Oregon spotted frog and other sensitive species. Our mission extends beyond simply providing delicious eggs; we are dedicated to restoring and enhancing wildlife habitat and protecting the biodiversity of our land. Our hens are raised in mobile houses that are rotated through the pastures, where they are free to roam, scratch, and forage as nature intended.
Job Description:
The Egg Processor is responsible for washing, grading, and packaging eggs using an egg-washing machine, maintaining accurate inventory and production records, and preparing orders for distribution. This role requires precision, efficiency, and attention to detail to ensure high-quality products meet farm standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Egg Washing and Grading Operate the egg washing machine to clean and sanitize eggs according to farm and food safety standards. Monitor the machine to ensure proper functioning and grading of eggs by size (e.g., small, medium, large). Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of the egg washing machine to maintain optimal performance. Packaging Package graded eggs into appropriate cartons and cases, ensuring quality and accuracy. Label cartons and cases with lot numbers, sizes, and any required regulatory information. Inventory and Record-Keeping Record production data, including inventory additions, waste, and lot numbers. Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs of egg production and packaging activities. Track and manage waste, such as cracked or unusable eggs, and record appropriately. Order Picking and Labeling Pick orders accurately based on customer requirements, ensuring the correct quantities and sizes are selected. Label cases for delivery or storage, ensuring they are ready for transport. Quality Control and Safety Inspect eggs for defects or damage during processing to maintain quality standards. Adhere to all farm safety protocols and food safety regulations during processing and packaging. Keep the workspace clean and organized to meet sanitation requirements.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in grading, packaging, and record-keeping. Ability to operate and maintain egg washing equipment safely and effectively. Basic data entry skills for maintaining inventory and production records. Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift cases of eggs (up to 40 lbs.). Dependability and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment:
This role primarily takes place in an indoor, non-climate controlled egg-washing and packaging facility. Workers will handle eggs and equipment, and the environment requires adherence to food safety and sanitation standards.
