Kids team as a Bus Monitor. Bus Monitors are responsible for creating and maintaining an environment conducive to both safety and a positive transition for our scholars from school to our After School program. The Shirley Proctor Puller Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to "advance literacy and help close the achievement gap for students in the at-risk community of South St. Petersburg, FL." All applicants must have passion for the mission as well as a desire to work to develop holistic solutions that create success for children and families in the community. There is also a high need for cultural sensitivity that comes with serving an at-risk population which has developed a healthy distrust of all things viewed as a part of "the system". A majority of the families we serve are of African American descent so all staff must be comfortable working cross culturally if necessary. Bus Monitors work Monday

• Friday from August
• May (June and July off) and must be available between 1:30 and 4:30 PM.

Job Role and Responsibilities Assist students with getting on and off the bus as needed Assist the bus driver transporting students from St. Petersburg schools to

Kids with the assigned route in a safe, courteous, and timely manner Maintain proper records and documentation including checking in students upon pick-up and upon drop-off to the

Kids location Maintain a positive relationship with front office and dismissal staff at each assigned school Maintain an awareness of student allergies, medical problems, and behavior as appropriate Communicate with SPPF Site Directors and other Leadership, as well as parents, concerning student whereabouts and behavior as appropriate Maintain current knowledge of Emergency Evacuation procedures Escort children inside the SPPF location building Perform other duties as assigned Work closely with the bus driver during the daily operation Obey all traffic laws of Florida Enforce company policies and procedures Always keep the assigned bus clean and orderly Ensure the safety of all students Complete a walk-through of the bus before and after each route Notify the Site Operations Leader in case of mechanical failure or lateness Discipline children as needed to maintain a safe environment Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route Attend safety meetings and training courses as required (online or on-site) Qualification needed to apply as Bus Monitor with
