Job Description

Monitor for transportation routes

TITLE:

Bus or Van Monitor

REPORTS TO

Director of Transportation & the Superintendent of Boone Community School District

WORK YEAR

9 Months

PART-TIME

3-6 hours per student attendance day.

SUMMARY:

Responsible for the safe operation of a vehicle transporting students to and from schools in accordance with policies and procedures.

Duties include, but are not limited to assuring the safe operations surrounding the transportation of all riders; student management and discipline; and communication with parents/guardians, students and school officials.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience preferred but not required

TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both in writing and orally.

Demonstrated skills with interpersonal relations and teamwork.

Demonstrated organizational skills.

Ability to provide excellent customer service and public relations.

Skilled in critical thinking and problem solving.

Ability to be flexible in daily scheduling of job responsibilities.

Advanced skills in cooperation and communication with supervisors and co-workers.

Ability to manage confidentiality in all aspects of the job.

Ability to manage multiple priorities with frequent interruptions.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Ability to promote and follow building and departmental policies

Apply and follow all school district policies and state of Iowa laws.

Child Safety Restraint Systems for School Transportation Vehicals; required at entry
