Job Description

Rider University invites applications for the Associate Director for Stewardship & Annual Giving . Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, the Associate Director plays a key role in advancing Rider University's philanthropic mission by developing and implementing comprehensive donor stewardship strategies that foster meaningful engagement, inspire continued generosity, and strengthen long-term relationships with alumni, friends, corporations, and foundations. This position serves as the primary steward for scholarship donors while supporting broader Advancement stewardship initiatives, including donor recognition, impact reporting, and acknowledgment programs. Working collaboratively across University Advancement, Finance, Financial Aid, and University Marketing & Communications, the Associate Director ensures donors experience exceptional stewardship through timely, personalized communications and meaningful opportunities to see the impact of their philanthropy. The Associate Director also supports the Advancement Services team by serving as a backup for gift processing functions and assists with initiatives that promote annual giving, including stewardship and acknowledgment efforts for the Rider Fund. Bachelor's degree Three to five years of experience in advancement, donor relations, stewardship, annual giving, advancement services, or a related field. Demonstrated experience managing donor relationships and implementing stewardship strategies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce high-quality donor correspondence and reports. Strong organizational, analytical, project management, and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a collaborative environment. Experience working with relational databases; proficiency with Raiser's Edge preferred. Experience with Banner is a plus. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word. Demonstrated understanding of confidentiality, data integrity, and ethical fundraising practices. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of the University Advancement team. Flexibility to attend occasional evening and weekend events. Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required.
