About Us:
Best Transit School Services is a rapidly growing student transportation company serving school districts, charter schools, and specialized transportation programs throughout Pennsylvania. We are seeking a highly organized and proactive School Bus Operations Manager to oversee and optimize all school bus division operations.
Position Summary:
The School Bus Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily school bus operations, driver scheduling, route management, staffing coordination, and interdepartmental communication to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient transportation services.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all daily school bus operations and route execution Build and manage driver schedules, route coverage, and backup plans Coordinate with dispatch to ensure on-time performance Serve as a primary operational point of contact for school clients, administrators, and transportation partners Maintain strong, professional communication with clients regarding route changes, service updates, delays, and issue resolution Build and strengthen client relationships through responsiveness, accountability, and proactive communication Assist HR with recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding drivers Work with payroll to ensure accurate driver hours and reporting Ensure compliance with DOT, PennDOT, school district, and safety regulations Monitor driver attendance, performance, and accountability Collaborate with fleet maintenance on bus readiness and service schedules Support client communication for service adjustments and operational needs Develop operational systems to support company growth
Qualifications:
3+ years in transportation, school bus, fleet, or operations management Strong scheduling and organizational skills Experience with school transportation Knowledge of compliance, driver files, and transportation regulations Proficiency in Excel, scheduling software, and communication systems Strong leadership and problem-solving skills Ability to work early mornings, occasional evenings, and emergency situations
Compensation:
$40,000-$60,000 annually (based on experience) Performance bonuses Growth opportunities Company leadership track
