Galleria Woods, Hoover, Alabama Pay Rate:
$16.00 - $18.00 per hour

What We're Looking For:
A bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation, education, or a healthcare-related field is preferred. Alternatively, two years of senior living activities experience in a licensed healthcare setting within the last five years. Activities certification is a plus! Creativity in developing and implementing activities for seniors. Excellent communication skills and a passion for working with seniors. Organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
Your Responsibilities:
Plan and lead a variety of recreational and educational activities, including current events, discussion groups, sensory stimulation, cultural activities, religious services, special entertainment, off-campus outings, special events, and one-on-one visits. Create and distribute monthly calendars and other promotional materials. Conduct interviews and develop individual resident assessments to tailor recreational programs to their needs and interests. Suggest fun activities to relatives for use upon discharge of residents and connect them with community recreation resources. Coordinate Resident Council and family meetings, and arrange special meetings to address interests and provide educational opportunities. Ensure residents move safely to and from recreational areas. Maintain reports, studies, and schedules in line with state and federal regulations. Purchase and inventory supplies and equipment, and ensure recreational equipment is clean and well-maintained. Communicate the goals and objectives of the recreational program to staff, volunteers, relatives, and the public. Direct and train volunteers in their activities. Transport residents to off-site activities.
