Seasonal (June 14 - August 8, 2026| Mon-Fri, 8:30 AM - 5:00 P M Date Position Summary Are you part engineer, part storyteller, and part educator? We are looking for a S.T.E.M. Counselor to anchor our "Station B" science program. This isn't a boring classroom job. One week you will be an "Alchemist" teaching chemical reactions; the next, you'll be a "Flight Engineer" teaching drone physics. Your goal is to foster innovation and resilience in campers aged 5-12 through hands-on, inquiry-based learning. What You Will Do
Lead High-Tech Instruction:
Teach coding (Swift Playgrounds, Blockly) and robotics (Dash Robots) using camp-provided iPads.
Facilitate Science & Engineering:
Lead diverse weekly projects including chemistry (slime/polymers), physics (catapults/aerodynamics), and structural engineering (bridges).
Manage Drone Operations:
Oversee safe drone flight zones, teaching mechanics (lift/yaw/pitch) and ensuring strict safety compliance.
Immersive Storytelling:
Adapt your teaching to fit weekly themes like "Renaissance Realm, " "K-Pop Idol Academy, " and "Santa Cruz Coastal Explorers" .
Lab Management:
Manage the inventory of consumables (batteries, craft supplies) and ensure the safety of high-value tech assets.
Supervision:
Maintain a 1:7 counselor-to-camper ratio, supervising transitions and ensuring a "Process over Product" mindset. The Schedule
Daily Rhythm:
You will rotate through five groups of campers (Units 1-5) daily. The day includes setup time, high-energy instruction blocks, and community activities like Morning Circle.
Differentiated Teaching:
You must be ready to pivot instantly from teaching tactile sensory games to 5-year-olds to complex logic debugging with 12-year-olds. Requirements
Age/Education:
Must be at least 18 years old. High School Diploma required.
Experience:
Prior experience working with children in a camp or educational setting.
Tech Savvy:
Comfort with iPad interfaces, basic coding logic, and learning new hardware quickly.
Availability:
Must be available for the full seasonal term (June 13 - August 7 2026). Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or completed a degree in Education, Computer Science, Engineering, Biology, or Physics.
- Experience with "Maker" skills (cardboard construction, basic electronics).
- Theatrical flair and ability to engage children through storytelling and character
