Under the general supervision of the Parks and Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Program Coordinator plans, organizes, and oversees recreational programs, community events, and related activities. The position ensures programs align with the City's goals of providing engaging, inclusive, and quality recreational services to residents of all ages.DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The Recreation Program Coordinator is a professional-level position responsible for coordinating recreational activities and programs. This role requires initiative, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. It is distinguished from the Parks and Recreation Supervisor in that it focuses on program delivery and execution rather than overall departmental management.SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
The Recreation Program Coordinator works under the general supervision of the Parks and Recreation Supervisor and may provide lead direction to part-time staff, volunteers, and contractors involved in recreation programs.- This position is part-time, GRANT-FUNDED .
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

E Coordinate the scheduling of facilities, staff, and resources for recreational activities. E Promote recreation programs through marketing materials, social media, and community outreach. E Oversee registration, fee collection, and participation tracking for recreational activities. E Supervise, train, and evaluate part-time staff, volunteers, and program instructors. E Monitor program budgets and assist in identifying funding opportunities or sponsorships. E Ensure compliance with applicable laws, safety standards, and City policies. E Address and resolve participant concerns or complaints professionally and efficiently. E Prepare reports, maintain records, and provide recommendations for program improvement. E Perform related duties as assigned.Note:

Knowledge of:
Principles and practices of recreation program planning and evaluation. Techniques for engaging and motivating participants of diverse backgrounds and ages. Safety and risk management procedures for recreational activities. Marketing, promotion, and public relations strategies.Ability to:
Plan, organize, and implement diverse recreation programs and activities. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Work independently and as part of a team. Establish and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, participants, and the community. Manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School graduation is required. A Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Public Administration, or a related field is preferred.Experience:
Two (2) years of experience in recreation program coordination or a related field. Any combination of training, education, and experience that would indicate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed herein may be considered.REQUIRED LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES
Possession of a valid Class "C" California Driver's License is required. An incumbent is required to possess a valid Driver's License and maintain an acceptable driving record. Certification in CPR and First Aid (or ability to obtain within six months of hire).LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
