Days and evenings as assigned by the supervisor Position Overview Army and Navy Academy seeks an entry-level Canteen Associate to assist with canteen operations and recreational activities in the Recreation Hall. This position combines cashiering, customer service, and student supervision to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for cadets. Responsibilities Operate the canteen register, process purchases, and handle cash and other payments accurately. Follow applicable food safety, sanitation, and safe food-handling requirements. Restock food, beverages, and supplies, and notify the supervisor of inventory needs. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the canteen and surrounding service areas. Help keep Recreation Hall equipment organized and ready for use; report damage, malfunctions, or unsafe conditions promptly. Assist the program manager with recreational activities and daily operations. Monitor cadet behavior in the Recreation Hall, reinforce Academy rules, and address concerns within established procedures. Report behavioral issues to the supervisor and coordinate with Operations and Cadet Life when additional assistance is needed, including during evening hours. Lock and secure the canteen during closed hours and at the end of each shift. Work assigned shifts reliably and perform other related canteen and recreation duties as assigned. Qualifications Basic math skills and the ability to handle payments accurately. Clear communication skills and a courteous, dependable approach to working with students and staff. Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries, reinforce rules consistently, and seek assistance when needed. Ability to follow food safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace. Availability to work assigned day and evening shifts. Previous cashiering, food service, or recreation experience is helpful but not required. This is a part-time position supporting student activities in the canteen with assignments based on Academy needs. The position is not eligible for employer-sponsored benefits, except as required by law. Employees may enjoy complimentary meals in the mess hall when scheduled to work during meal periods.
