Job Description

Recreation Coordinator - Youth & Adult Sports Chico Area Recreation & Park District - 4.3 Chico, CA Job Details Full-time $26.52 - $35.54 an hour 6 hours ago Benefits Health savings account Health insurance Dental insurance Paid time off Parental leave Employee assistance program Vision insurance Professional development assistance Life insurance Retirement plan Qualifications Professional ethics Driver's License Conflict management Full Job Description Summary For the love of the game! The Recreation Coordinator is the front-line leader of CARD's Sports Department, overseeing on-site Youth and Adult Sports programs during the evenings and weekends, when the majority of programming occurs. This role is the primary liaison between participants, on-site staff , and Sports Management, responsible for making sound, real-time decisions that protect the integrity of the program, the community, and the District. The ideal candidate has a genuine love of the game and is excited to serve and give back to the community. The Coordinator brings sharp awareness and foresight to every shift, spotting issues before they escalate and stepping in to keep every program safe, fun, and positive for the people we serve. This is the person who makes sure every participant, every night, walks away with a great experience. Who We're Looking For A candidate with strong critical thinking and independent judgment, calm and decisive when problems come up mid-program, rather than escalating every issue. Strong judgment matters more than tenure: we need someone who can read a situation in a field or in a gym and know when to handle it and when to loop in a supervisor. This person must act with high integrity and trustworthiness, consistently doing what's right for CARD even when no one's watching. Evening and weekend availability is required, since that's when the majority of Youth and Adult Sports programming runs. Experience in youth or adult sports leagues, officiating, coaching, or recreation programming is a plus, but the ability to manage people, conflict, and logistics in real time is the core requirement.
