On-site Job Summary:
The Activity Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing therapeutic recreational programs that support the physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being of senior participants in an outpatient setting. Activities may include arts and crafts, games, music, drama, community outings, and virtual programs. The coordinator will collaborate with the care team to support participant care plans and actively contribute to interdisciplinary team (IDT) meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and lead individual and group activities, both on-site and virtually (Zoom/GrandPad). Participate in assessments and care planning in collaboration with the IDT. Maintain and post monthly activity calendars. Supervise volunteers and vendors during activity sessions. Support community outings, including coordination and participant escorting. Monitor participant engagement and report changes to the care team. Manage inventory and supply ordering within budget. Conduct participant satisfaction surveys and support program improvement efforts. Assist with staff training and activity program evaluation.
Qualifications:
High school diploma required; college coursework preferred. Minimum 1 year of experience working with seniors in a social or recreational setting. Completion of a California-approved Activity Leader/Director course Valid BLS certification. Bilingual (English/Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese) preferred. Experience in decorating or event setup (e.g., balloon arches) is a plus.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong communication, creativity, and organizational skills Comfortable working with frail elderly participants, including those with cognitive impairments Proficient in Microsoft Office and Zoom Energetic, team-oriented, and able to lead engaging activities
Work Environment:
This position involves indoor and outdoor activities, occasional travel for outings, and light lifting (up to 15 lbs). Must be comfortable leading group sessions, standing for extended periods, and adhering to infection control protocols.
