Outdoor Recreation and Program Coordinator (Temporary Non-Student) Northeastern University - 4.2 Oakland, CA Job Details Part-time $20 - $30 an hour 1 hour ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Tuition reimbursement Paid time off Leadership training provided Vision insurance Life insurance Qualifications CPR Certification Driver's License First Aid Certification Decision making AED Certification Full Job Description About the Opportunity Job Summary The Outdoor Recreation and Program Coordinator supports the Campus Sports and Recreation (CSR) Department by assisting with the planning and delivery of outdoor recreation excursions, intramural sports activities, and CSR department programming. The role requires active, hands-on participation in all activities and includes direct supervision of student participants across a variety of indoor and outdoor environments. This is a temporary, part-time position averaging 20 hours per week, primarily nights and weekends, based on the Oakland Campus of the Northeastern University system. Remote work is not available for this position.
Pay range:
$20.00-$30.00 USD hourly, depending on experience. Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities Outdoor Recreation Excursions Plan and attend four off-campus recreation excursions each academic semester, including coordination with recreation vendors and transportation of students to and from venues. Actively participate in all excursion activities, which may include horseback riding, climbing, hiking, open-water sports, and amusement park attractions. Use of safety devices such as helmets, harnesses, flotation vests, and suspension cords may be required. Organize, lead, and supervise one 3-day/2-night outdoor wilderness excursion each semester, such as backpacking, camping, river rafting, or kayaking. Teach outdoor skills, environmental awareness, safety protocols, and Leave No Trace principles. Intramural Sports and Program Support Oversee weekly intramural sports activities as assigned. Supervise CSR Program Assistant staff and Intramural Sport Referee staff. Assist with planning and supporting broader CSR department programming. Safety, Administration, and Operations Adhere to all safety procedures and emergency response protocols to maintain a safe recreational environment. Perform administrative tasks as needed in support of department operations. Drive a 10-passenger campus vehicle to transport students to and from activity venues. Attend job orientation and complete required driver training and safety certification upon hire. Minimum Qualifications Required Must be 21 years of age or older Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification (candidates who do not currently hold certification will have the opportunity to obtain it upon hire) Reliable, responsible, self-motivated, and demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and initiative Ability to work effectively as part of a team Physical ability to perform all required activities, including walking, standing, sitting, and lifting up to 30 lbs; active participation in all outdoor and indoor excursion activities is required Valid I-9 documentation Preferred Bay Area Wilderness Training (BAWT) certification, specifically Wilderness Leadership Training and Wilderness First Aid Position Type Temporary Additional Information Northeastern University considers factors such as candidate work experience, education and skills when extending an offer.
