The Piedmont Recreation Department (PRD) is seeking enthusiastic, creative, and dependable teens to join our Schoolmates Extended Care team. Recreation Aides works alongside Recreation Leaders to provide a safe, engaging, and positive environment for elementary-aged children at Piedmont's three elementary schools. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable work experience, develop leadership skills, build your resume, and make a difference in the lives of children. About the Position Recreation Aides assist with daily after-school programming, including games, arts and crafts, sports, enrichment activities, special events, and playground supervision. Successful candidates enjoy working with children, demonstrating responsibility and professionalism, and bring positive energy to every shift.

Professional Communicate respectfully with children, families, and coworkers Demonstrate maturity and good judgment Responsible Prioritize participant safety and well-being Follow directions and complete assigned tasks EnergeticEnthusiastic Enjoy being active and engaging with children Bring creativity, positivity, and a team-first attitude Interested in Working with Youth Previous volunteering, babysitting, tutoring, coaching, or leadership experience is helpful but not required What You'll Do Assist with games, sports, arts and crafts, and enrichment activities Support participant supervision and engagement Model positive behavior and assist with conflict resolution Promote a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment Help children safely use playground equipment, supplies, and materials Assist with special events and program activities Maintain clean and organized program spaces Communicate concerns regarding participant safety or behavior to supervising staff Perform other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Must be currently enrolled in high school Must be at least 15 years of age at the time of application Must have completed 9th grade Ability to work a minimum of two afternoons per week Ability to work collaboratively with staff and children Enthusiasm for recreation, youth development, and teamwork Work Permit Requirements Applicants under 18 years of age must obtain and maintain a valid work permit throughout employment. Schedule Typical after-school shifts occur Monday-Friday and range from approximately 2-4 hours per day, between 2:00-6:00 PM. Additional hours may be available during staff trainings, special events, and school break programs. Why Work for PRD?
