Job Overview Join our vibrant summer team as a Camp Counselor supporting children with special needs and ignite the spirit of adventure, learning, and growth in young minds! In this dynamic role, you will create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for children of diverse backgrounds. Your enthusiasm and leadership will inspire campers to explore new activities, develop essential skills, and build lifelong friendships. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact while gaining valuable experience in education, childcare, and youth development. Responsibilities Lead and supervise groups of children during daily camp activities, ensuring safety and engagement at all times Plan and facilitate a variety of recreational activities including sports, arts and crafts, theater, and outdoor adventures Implement behavior management strategies to promote respectful and cooperative interactions among campers Provide first aid when necessary and respond promptly to any medical or safety concerns following established protocols Support children with special needs or those requiring additional assistance through tailored activities and compassionate guidance Foster a positive camp community by encouraging teamwork, inclusivity, and Christian values where appropriate Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about camper progress and any important updates Requirements Prior experience working with children, including children with developmental disabilities in settings such as daycare, tutoring, babysitting, or camp environments is highly desirable Knowledge of classroom management techniques and childhood development principles Certification in first aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain prior to start) Strong skills in behavior management, early childhood education, and working with diverse learners including those with special education needs Ability to lead activities confidently in sports coaching, theater arts, or other recreational disciplines Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and connect with children of various ages Enthusiastic attitude with a passion for fostering fun learning experiences in a safe environment Embark on an enriching summer journey that combines fun-filled activities with meaningful mentorship. Pay:
$20.50 - $22.50 per hour
